Slide 5 - Example of expense report fraud

Below is the result of an expense report fraud investigation. We performed this analysis on a database with around 70,000 expense records, and investigated four employee frauds. We seek patterns in travel expenses, such as an unusual amount of airfare, inflated ticket prices, and abuse of the miscellaneous expense category. The perpetrator below expensed many more flights that he could have possibly taken for company business, a duplicate flight, and a business class vacation ticket for $8000. The same perpetrator, as you can see in the second slide, expensed furniture that he claimed was for his home office.
